A Rainbow In the Snow

Looking from my back window this morning... a beautiful rainbow. For some time it was a full one but I could not capture it all with my camera. Rainbows are a silent reminder and I always pause a bit to look at their beauty and remember their meaning.

A skirt for Miss M

Oh the weather outside is frightful... the fire is so delightful.. it has snowed.. it has snowed ... it has snowed. !!!

Zero degrees and sunshine. It is clear and the mountain is beautiful.

A little project for Miss A

Well... SNOW.... that is the topic all over the state.

It is business as usual here... school is in session and city hall is open.

It is too cold to make a snow man.

ummm..... no we didn't run out of chairs.

BEARS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN!

I got this panel of fabric at the quilt shop... thinking "oh how cute." For some reason I find it difficult to make something I am happy with out of a fabric panel. Mr K. in Wisconsin is going to have a bedroom with northern woods bears in it. So... maybe this can add to the decor of his room. He does need a log bed to go with it.

Grandma's Quilting

I have a few quilts that Grandma made... Quilting was different back in those days. They had to use any fabric available and most of it was done by hand. Quilts were a necessity for their bedding.

Snowmen invaded my house again this year...

Out my back window this morning.

Could not see the mountain this morning for clouds and fog.. but the sun came up on the hills in the foreground and its was beautiful.

Happy Thanksgiving .... eating!

We had lots of yummy food... Nathan smoked a turkey on the grill. Looks like Mr T. is all ready to eat.

The pie choices were pumpkin and apple custard. The apple custard one I won't make again... its one of those recipes you try once I think.

Off to the quilter....

I finished a quilt top this week. It is a variation of the French Roses Pattern.... with what the quilters call a "fussy cut" flower in the center of each block.

Fun Fall Decorations

I discovered a simple little decoration in the quilt store this weekend. To make these fabric pumpkins you need a fat quarter that looks like fall, a roll of toilet paper.. preferably a double roll, and ... if you have some left over batting you can wrap that around the toilet paper roll to make the pumpkin more round. Set the roll in the middle of the the fabric piece that is laying pretty side down. Bring the fabric up to the top of the roll and tuck it into the hole of the roll. .. if its a little shy in some spots just work with the fabric folds and you can tuck it in to look attractive. Lastly... get a small piece of a tree branch for the stem.
