A 90th birthday photo

My mother had a 90th birthday October 20th. I flew home and spent 2 weeks with her. 90 years is a long time but still life is like a dream, like a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanisheth away.

Lots has happened in those 90 years. Joys, sorrow, tears, laughter, change, adjustments, accomplishments and a growing faith in a living God.

Mom is living in the house she was born in. Not many people can say that. Of course it looks nothing like it did then.

Mom rode horseback to teach in a one room country school house in her young days. She killed a rattlesnake on the school house steps. Mom forgets alot about life right now in the moment but she can tell stories of by gone days with accurate descriptions.

Mom will tell you that growing old is not easy sometimes. She misses my dad. She graciously gave up driving so she doesn't have freedom like she once had. Her eyesight isn't what it once was and she worries that she will lose more of it. Some days are long and lonely. I need to remember that we too might experience these things if we are granted many years.

This lemon tree is out doing itself. It was planted in my yard in May with lemons on it. I have used some of them already. Lemon pie is wonderful.

The grasses have these lovely colorful plumes
now.

The lime tree has done well too. limeade anyone?? or Key Lime pie????

Mom's 90th birthday

Friends from near and far sent cards... many memories and a few tears at all the thoughts from dear friends and family.

...... flowers from her dear 88 year old friend Edith

We had 3 parties... one with Edith and Elaine the weekend before her birthday ..... another after Wednesday night meeting. ... compliments of Lambleys.

.... and finally a party on Sunday with all the friends and family nearby.
